  • Current traffic restrictions: The Talbot Avenue ramp, located between the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection and Fleet Street, will close starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 7. Also, Kenmawr Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue.

That includes new pavement, sidewalk, curb, drainage, barrier and guide rail, traffic signals, roadway lighting, signage, and pavement markings.

    The Talbot Avenue ramp in Rankin will close starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025. The ramp is located between the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection and Fleet Street. Also, Kenmawr Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue. Those restrictions are expected to end in November 2025. They are required for the reconstruction of the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection.

    Traffic will be detoured using Braddock Avenue and Fourth Street.

    The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp, located between Talbot Avenue and Line Street in Rankin, has reopened to traffic. Also, Fleet Street between Maple Way and West Braddock Avenue, Maple Way between Fleet Street and Pattison Avenue, and Line Street have reopened to traffic.

    Additional work at the Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue/Talbot Avenue intersection and permanent pavement markings, including those used for bike lanes, will be completed as part of the project next year. That will require a closure of the Talbot Avenue ramp between Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue and Fleet Street as well as closure of the southbound lane of Kenmawr Avenue between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue.

    The exact start date for those traffic restrictions has yet to be determined. When plans are finalized, that information will be provided to the public. The restrictions are expected to end during fall 2025.

    A Rankin Bridge ramp (Rankin/Braddock exit) between South Braddock Avenue and Kenmawr Avenue/Braddock Avenue in Rankin has reopened to traffic. A lane closure on Kenmawr Avenue between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue has also ended.

    The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp, Fleet Street between West Braddock Avenue and Maple Way, Maple Way between Fleet Street and Pattison Avenue, and Line Street are expected to reopen later in December.

    The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp replacement project has reached a significant milestone. Crews are pouring the ramp’s concrete deck, which is what people will drive on when the new ramp opens later this year. Almost 400 cubic yards of concrete is being used to construct the deck – enough to fill more than 30 concrete mixer trucks.

    The project remains on schedule.

    The Braddock Avenue/Kenmawr Avenue ramp replacement project reached a significant milestone, as the new ramp's steel beams were placed on the reconstructed abutments and new piers.

    Amelie Construction & Supply, a subcontractor for the primary construction contractor Mosites Construction Company, used an 18,400-pound, 115-foot crane to place the beams, which ranged from 80 to 120 feet in length and weighed between 20,565 to 35,525 pounds. The beams were fabricated and driven from Lancaster, PA. The project remains on schedule.

    A Rankin Bridge ramp (Rankin/Braddock exit) between South Braddock Avenue and Kenmawr Avenue/Braddock Avenue in Rankin will close starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024. Also, Kenmawr Avenue will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in each direction between Carrie Furnace Boulevard and Braddock Avenue. Those restrictions are expected to end in December 2024.

    For the ramp closure, eastbound car traffic will be detoured using South Braddock Avenue, Kenmawr Avenue, Talbot Avenue, Fourth Street, and Sixth Street. Westbound car traffic will be detoured using Sixth Street, Talbot Avenue, Fourth Street, and Kenmawr Avenue. Truck traffic will be detoured using South Braddock Avenue, I-376, Ardmore Boulevard (Route 30), Electric Avenue, and Braddock Avenue.

    Line Street in Rankin will close at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024. The closure is expected to end in December 2024.

    Line Street vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured using Fleet Street, Holland Avenue, and Second Street.
