Jacks Run Bridge No. 3 Replacement Projects
Overview
Location: Jacks Run Road over I-279 and between Bellevue Road/Bellpark Drive and Kane Lane
Traffic restrictions: Full closure of Jacks Run Road between Bellevue Road/Bellpark Drive and Kane Lane. Periodic full closures of I-279 northbound and southbound – along with the interstate’s High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes – from June 22 through August between the following times:
- 9 pm to 5 am Sunday-Friday
- 9 pm Friday to 9am Saturday
- 9 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday
I-279 northbound will be closed between the McKnight Road/Evergreen Road exit ramp (Exit 4) and the I-279 North entrance ramp from Camp Horne Road. I-279 southbound will be closed between the Camp Horne Road exit ramp (Exit 8) and the I-279 South entrance ramp from McKnight Road.
When I-279 is not fully closed, there will continue to be periodic single-lane closures on I-279 northbound and southbound under Jacks Run Road and closure of the I-279 northbound on-ramp from Cemetery Lane between 7 pm and 6 am daily through the remainder of the project.
Demolition project start date: April 27, 2026
Estimated demolition project end date: September 2026
New bridge construction start date: Winter/Spring 2027
Estimated new bridge construction end date: Fall 2027

Jacks Run Road Detour
Southbound toward Brighton Road
- From Bellevue Road, stay straight as the road becomes North Balph Avenue
- Turn right onto Lincoln Avenue
- Turn right onto Brighton Road
- Turn right onto Jacks Run Road (if needed)
Northbound toward Bellevue Road
- Same as the southbound detour in the opposite direction
I-279 Northbound Detour
- From I-279 northbound, take Exit 4 (McKnight Road/Evergreen Road)
- Use the left lane to exit toward McKnight Road
- Take the West View/Millvale exit on the right
- Turn right onto Babcock Boulevard
- Turn left onto Rochester Road
- Turn left onto Lowries Run Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Camp Horne Road
- Turn right onto the I-279 North on-ramp
I-279 Southbound Detour
- From I-279 southbound, take Exit 8 (Camp Horne Road)
- Turn left onto Camp Horne Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Lowries Run Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Rochester Road
- Turn right onto Babcock Boulevard
- Turn left onto the McKnight Road on-ramp
- Turn right onto McKnight Road
- Take the I-279 South exit on the right
I-279 Southbound to Union Avenue Detour
- From I-279 southbound, take Exit 8 (Camp Horne Road)
- Turn left onto Camp Horne Road/li>
- Stay straight as the road becomes Lowries Run Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Rochester Road
- Turn right onto Perry Highway
- Turn right onto Highland Avenue
- Turn left onto Gass Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Union Avenue
Union Avenue to I-279 Northbound Detour
- From Union Avenue, stay straight as the road becomes Gass Road
- Turn right onto Highland Avenue
- Turn left onto Perry Highway
- Turn left onto Rochester Road
- Turn left onto Lowries Run Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Camp Horne Road
- Turn right onto the I-279 North on-ramp/li>
I-279 Southbound to Cemetery Lane Detour
- From I-279 southbound, take Exit 8 (Camp Horne Road)
- Turn left onto Camp Horne Road
- Stay straight as the road becomes Lowries Run Road

Cemetery Lane to I-279 Northbound Detour
- From Cemetery Lane, turn onto Perry Highway
- Turn left onto Rochester Road

- Stay straight as the road becomes Camp Horne Road
- Turn right onto the I-279 North on-ramp
